Keller Wattum was born and raised in Alaska, and has been flying the skies of Kodiak for nearly his entire life. After receiving his pilots license, Keller began flying commercially for several local air services and lodges before starting Deckload Aviation in 2014. Keller has over 10,000 flight hours in many aircraft. He enjoys sharing his passion for the outdoors and adventures with both clients and family.


Deckload Aviation started out as a fish spotting business, where a “spotter pilot” locates large schools of fish in areas open to commercial fishing and guides vessels to lucrative herring or salmon fishing spots. “Deckload” is a term used when the fish holds on the vessel are so full that fish must be loaded onto the deck of the boat for transport to the processing facility. Commercial fishing in an important industry in the Kodiak area, and Keller still enjoys fish spotting and supporting the industry through flying.
